Hi - Curious if you are related to the Husby's from northern Minnesota. I know some Husby's from Cook, Mn. I think living in Embarass now I believe. Wouldn't that be a hoot? Terri
Well, maybe it is Jacobs family. But then it is a farm name..... I was down visiting my mother and stopped into a grocery store in watonwan county many years back. when I wrote my check the lady looked at it and said there was a David Husby there. but I ddin't get to see him. Saw him in the telephone book too. Charly lives in cities but I don'r remember her married name. and the women did work in the cities, but married and have other names. Like Waller, or Wallner and Mitylning, and Monk or Mork. It would be a hoot. I google to see where Embarass is. I wonder how the town got it's name?
Actually Husby is swedish and northern norway and even a town in Germany... Some say it's suppose to be Husaby. or Huseby. Ok I am done.
LOL! You're as bad as I am - once I get to telling a story I just can't stop. Mike Husby actually grew up in Cook, MN which is in St. Louis County - way up north, about 70 miles from International Falls. I always like to check when I see a familiar name - Mike was a great friend of my husbands and I thought wouldn't it be something if there was a connection. I don't know anything about his ancestry - but it would have been a kick if you had a connection. Love reading your blog! Ok I'm done too - LOL!
Terri, you'll have to hang in here a minute. lol. I hardly write about Husby here. Afraid I'll get tied in to it too much.... Identification and all that. You know. But glad I did.
Here I go. See his brother and other norwegians worked for Stout Lumber company one of the big tycoon type companies which employed so many. But by the time maybe Jacob rolled into town maybe the idustry was not as massive as it once was. he could have gone to a branch in Washington or I heard of one in Arkansas [ not sure if that is the state or a town south of Stout Lumber at Menomonie, wi. Or he found his own niche along with Carlson whom he traveled with probably on the ship.
And funny Duluth and the town you mentioned is still st. Louis county.
I recently was given delux of ancestry and maybe I can work more in depth again with that area, checking on the family? I will check on Mike. I might have seen his tree. Not sure. I had things I checked on of miscellaneous Husby and Husaby over the years. I guess that is why I have a neglected blog devoted to them. tee hee.
And wouldn't it be fun it it so happened. And isn't it what we are all about. lol
ohh I am suppose to have some relatives at international falls. M & M told me. Who I don't know or what tree branch. done.
I hope you can access my email in the about me Profile, but I do not have that email access set up. You can copy the address or simply click email here. arootdiggeratgmaildotcom
As a young bookworm, day dreaming child, I always wondered about the cousins that I thought I must have in Germany [ Bleckede and Luneburg].
I was able to start Genealogy with computer around 2001, I still have limited knowledge in computer technology, grammer, spelling, and in the genealogy techniques.
I make up for my limits by my persistence in wanting to share all I can. Also by my persistence in my search.
I have discovered the family members of the 'Meyer Book'. I am still hoping to meet so many more of this vast family.
I started this blog to serve the need I have to talk about my details of genealogy [journal] of all my surnames. Especially the locations of family settlements.
Your warned, that there will be discussions of the details of the problem situations with the surnames I have had, etc. I am known to talk and talk about it until my family and friends eyes glaze over. I guess this blog may help save them from too much of that.
I hope family will join in help problem solve and share more of the various family stories and insights and ideas. Non family as well.
I have put the information out there and now I am waiting for family to come.
